The main emphasis of my training programs is resistance training, because I believe staying strong is a key component to longevity. As we age, our metabolism begins to slow down and muscle loss occurs. The only way to combat this is to get stronger. Strength training is also beneficial for weight loss because it boosts your resting metabolism which means you will burn more calories at rest. Below are the programs I run with my clients. All of these can be done in a gym or your home.
The most common workout that I do with my clients, this program is designed to increase endurance as well as tone muscles. It is a great way to work every muscle group and burn calories.
Traditional weight lifting with rest in between sets allows for recovery time, so maximum effort can be put into each set.
This program focuses on developing muscle mass and definition. Super sets are performed to promote muscle growth.
Similar to circuit training, this program interjects cardiorespiratory movements into the session.
With the recreational athlete in mind, this program uses movements targeted to enhance performance.
Speed power and agility
This program uses explosive movements to increase the recruitment of fast twitch muscle fibers. It is typically done in conjunction with sport-specific training.
